just keep swimming

I suck at wanting to know the next, NEXT step.

Even when God has shown me a direct sign of what the NEXT step is, I'm convinced I need to know the ending of the staircase too.

Peace always finds me when I rest in where I AM--
chaos always finds me when I strive for where I want to go.

As if all the desires in my heart go unnoticed or forgotten by God's all-knowing and sovereign Being.
Not only is he aware of each and every one of them, He created them.

But we think if God just laid out a step by step plan of exactly how we would get there, all worry would be gone, right?

But what faith would that require?
None.

If God has put a promise, desire, or dream in your heart, He will fulfill it. Never how you think or expect; but better than you could ever hope.
I think too often we give up because they seem completely impossible, too sacrificial, too far off, or we tend to think WE can get ourselves there faster and better.

But God isn't looking for people who give up their callings based on detours and roadblocks, He's searching for people who use them as training ground

We miss so much beauty and growth when we focus on how we'll reach the end, instead of being where God has placed us right now.

I thought about that so much as I've been hiking here in Colorado Springs. The difficult adventure to the highest part of the mountain is always worth it. When encountering a steep incline or massive boulder, I'm not just gonna turn around and go home. I'm gonna conquer it and keep going. We ought to look at life the same way.

Because once we reach our final destination, it makes all the bloody scrapes, all the burning in our muscles and lungs, all the pain on the way up, and all the fears of falling totally worth it.

Focus on the promise given, not the wall in your way.

He's given you legs to climb, but He isn't going to climb for you. That's your job.

And once you finally get there, everything else that once seemed like the end, will look like the beginning.

Simply e x i s t  in the moment He's placed in front of you. If He is sustaining this very moment, He will sustain the next, and the next, and the next.

So just REST.
BE.

Because you're much closer to something beautiful than you realize.
